I saw this on ebay and had no idea what the difference was. Do you happen to know if any store websites are selling it? I checked walmart.com and walgrees.com (where I bought my non-collector's edition tape) and came up with nothing. It was sitting in a display rack of misc. DVD's. My 7 year old twin sons LOVE it and I enjoyed it too! Great family holiday movie. HIT released Dog City on Region 2 DVD in the UK with more Rowlf in it than there is Kermit in Emmet Otter.
